Good Morning HealthEZ Brokers and Consultants,

 

Below was an email that was recently sent to all your active group’s HR and Finance contacts on behalf of HealthEZ. As you know this is a rapidly evolving situation and we have limited information on what a COVID-19 test will cost. As a point of reference we do know that one national lab company,  Quest Diagnostics is billing a COVID-19 test for $200. In the event the federal or state governments do not offer reimbursement or cover COVID-19 testing in full, the attached amendment would waive patient responsibility. Please reach out to your respective group(s) on how they would like to cover the testing of COVID-19 and return the signed amendment to me at your earliest convenience.


Groups will have 3 options for coverage:

  1. Employer Group can opt out of coverage and it will fall to member responsibility. (Please let me know by email if this is the decision)
  2. Employer Group can just cover the COVID-19 Test
  3. Employer Group can cover the COVID-19 Test and the related office or urgent care visit (if such visit was warranted)    

 

At this time, any subsequent treatment for COVID-19 is covered as any other illness defined by the group’s summary plan description.

Here at HealthEZ, we recognize the critical role we play in helping our members to navigate the healthcare system. As the uncertainty increases, we remain committed to our core values of service and responsiveness to ensure there is no disruption to our members and employer clients.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is our belief that the health and wellbeing of our employees and members is the number one priority. With this in mind, we recommend amending your plan to cover COVID-19 testing with no patient cost share (waiving of deductibles and copayments). The IRS has confirmed that High Deductible Health Plans are able to waive patient liability and retain their status as a qualified High Deductible Health Plan. We have confirmed with our Stop Loss Carriers that they will honor these changes and reimburse if applicable for the testing of COVID-19.

 

 

HERE AT HEALTHEZ

 

We have taken steps internally to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We have increased cleaning services—including deep cleans each night of all surfaces, door handles and floors. We have deployed signs around the office to remind staff of proper hand washing procedures.

 

We are fortunate to have state of the art technology that enables work from home. We are committed to remaining fully operational during this outbreak so that we can serve our members and clients.
